2nd Wessex Division
2/7th Battalion T.F.

Formed at Bournemouth in September 1914. Became part of 2/1st Hampshire Brigade, 2nd Wessex Division. 13 December 1914 : sailed for India, and in September 1917 left for Mesopotamia, arriving Basra on 11 September 1917. Placed onto Lines of Communication work. September 1918 : attached to 38th Indian Brigade, 13th Indian Division

 

2/7th Hampshire Regiment

Edwin (Ted) Kitcher is in the fourth row from the bottom, second from the left. As I understand it this photo was taken in Bombay, possibly in 1915, as my grandfather told me he joined in 1913, trained, went to India in 1914 for 18 months, then went to Mesopotamia, being demobbed in 1919. He had transfered to the 1/4th as they had lost so many men. View larger Image
